April Clay Club at Haywood Community College on April 17th

Student work by Alyssa Johnson

April Clay Club will be at Haywood Community College on Wednesday, April 17th from 5-7 (note this is a different time and day than our usual schedule). Thanks to Emily Reason and everyone at Haywood for hosting us!

Here are the details from Emily:

Join us at Haywood Community College Wednesday April 17, 5-7pm for Clay Club. Emily Reason will give a tour of the facility and talk about Haywood's unique Professional Crafts Program.

HCC offers 2-year intensive courses of study in Clay, Fiber, Jewelry and Wood.

Course work in each program is carefully designed to provide a firm foundation in studio technique, with design and craft history classes offered to give a thorough comprehension of the craft experience.

In complement to the core craft course, students take classes in marketing, studio and business planning, and craft photography. This blend of studio craft and business courses prepares the student to achieve the skills necessary to become viable independent studio artists or to become valuable, skilled employees in the expanding craft industry.

Potluck. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Haywood Community College is an alcohol-free zone, so you're welcome to bring your own beverage, but don't bring anything alcoholic.

After last month's Clay Club - where we dined on fine East Fork ware - a number of folks asked about the option of bringing their own non-disposable dinnerware to Clay Club. You are invited to do that if you want. Paper and plastic ware will also be available.
