Colored Clay: Blends, Tests, and Beyond!

Tuesdays, 6:30 – 9pm
January 5th – February 23rd

Do you love using color in your work, but can’t always find the color you need? Coloring your clay is a unique and affordable way to get just the look you want! Using mason stains and other commercial products to create vibrant colored clays, you will learn basic and advanced methods for blending, mixing and testing materials. Whether you like to slip cast, throw on the wheel, decorate with underglaze or just plain love to glaze, these systems for color development can be infinitely applied to your own processes.

Level: Seasoned Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Salty and Sassy

Wednesdays, 1 – 4pm
January 13th, January 27th, February 10th, and February 24th

Concentrating on soulful forms well-suited to salty atmospheric firing, this class will bring the sass! Explore faceting, fluting, paddling, roping, and altering as ways to add interest and movement to your forms and enhance the salty results. Enjoy learning about and creating work to be fired exclusively in our brand-new Salt/Soda Kiln!

Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Beginner SKULLpture

Instructor: Lauren Breitling

Thursdays, 6:30 – 9pm
January 7th – February 25th

Come join Lauren in this beginner sculpting class where we explore all things… UNUSUAL. Using different sculpting and handbuilding techniques we will create animal skulls, body parts, and more, then transform them into functional or sculptural pieces. You are welcome to bring in your own weird and random sculpture ideas or inspirations or see where the class takes you! Nothing is off limits as we learn to build what we see and imagine with clay.

Bigger Pots Made Easy

Instructor: Gabriel Kline and Anja Bartels

Fridays, 10am – 12:30pm
January 8th – February 26th

Do you want to increase the scale of your work, but feel intimidated by large pieces of clay? The truth is, you don’t have to be a big, strong person to make big, strong pots! Join Anja and Gabriel as they demystify the techniques used to produce large scale pottery. Demos will include throwing wide diameter bowls, section building skyscraper pots, centering 50-100 lbs. of clay, and creative ways to make voluminous storage jars. These techniques are simple, fun, and easy to learn. You’ll be amazed at the pieces you create! The class will include plenty of studio and one-on-one time with the instructors.

Beginner Wheel: Find Your Center

Saturdays, 10am – 12:30pm

Have you dreamt of making a personalized mug or bowl but feel boggled by the process?  Don’t be nervous, every proficient potter once started where you are. This class will boost your clay confidence with inspiring demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and plenty of practice time. Through exploration of tools and foundational techniques you will be able to create distinct and useful pots. Each student will be encouraged to establish a strong skill base while also pursuing their individual interests and goals. Get ready to use your hands and make pots you can be proud of!

Beginner Wheel: Welcome to the Wheel!

Everyone approaches clay a little differently and that is part of the beauty! In this entry level throwing class, we take the philosophy that if it’s working for you and feels good, you’re doing it right! That being said, we will also demo the most successful methods for throwing mugs, bowls, vases, plates, and  just about anything else you want to learn to throw on the potter’s wheel!

Kid’s Class: Creative Clay, Ages 8 - 12

Instructor: Nora Watkins

Thursdays, 10am – 12pm
January 7th – February 11th

This jam-packed class will get your creativity flowing to light up the chilly winter months. Together, we’ll make lots of cool projects like hanging sculptures, lanterns, treasure boxes, planters and more along with time for unique passion-projects and creative exploration. Younger kids welcome with older siblings!

Tuition: $235

Kid’s Class: Sculpting from Scratch, Ages 6-10

Instructor: Kristen Easters

Mondays, 4 – 6pm
January 11th – February 15th

During this six-week course, students will unleash their inner creativity and imagination and explore sculpting with clay. We’ll start with animal sculptures, with plenty of one-on-one support. Then the students will be encouraged to bring in their own ideas which we will transform into reality. The learning objective of this course will focus on helping students understand how to come up with ideas and follow the creative process from start to finish. What will you sculpt?!

Kid’s Class: Wheel Throwing, Hand-Building, and Beyond! Ages 10 - 14

Tuesdays, 4 – 6pm
January 19th – February 23rd

Get ready to get muddy and have fun in the studio! In this after-school class, students will get a chance to learn wheel throwing, handbuilding AND animal sculpting! Everyone will have individual & group projects as well as the opportunity to discover their own creativity through self-directed work. This class is perfect for all students, no matter the skill level or experience!
