on Fridays (October 2–December 4, 2026) at The Village Potters Clay Center in Asheville.
Explore dramatic surfaces and the unpredictable beauty of saggar, horsehair, obvara, and glazed raku in this eight-session specialty class. Designed for seasoned beginners through advanced potters who are comfortable working independently with clay.
Schedule:
- October 2, 9, 16 & 23: Instruction, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- October 30: Firing preparation, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- November 6, 20 & December 4: Outdoor firings; attend either 10 a.m.–1 p.m. or 3–6 p.m.
Includes 25 pounds of clay, specialty firing materials and 16 hours of open studio to use during the first four weeks.
