Vole....was Mole

I saw this creature yesterday frolicking around on the ground on Round Mountain, NC. I think it is a mole but not sure. It had a short tail and small eyes, but nice digging claws. Something probably ate him/her by now as there was no fear or flight response.

It's not a mole, but looks like a vole.

Yep, a vole...seen them around here iin Black Mountain too.
