Raku Workshop with Barry Bernstein
and David Voorhees

Noted Michigan raku artist Barry Bernstein will lead a three day workshop on raku fired pottery. He will demonstrate his throwing and altering techniques as well as his firing methods. Students will help contruct a simple raku kiln and have a day to fire some of their own pottery or sculpture. Workshop to be held at David Voorhees’ studio in Zirconia, NC.
A Trunk Show of Barry’s raku pottery will be held at Hand in Hand Gallery during the weekend with a reception Friday evening 5-7pm.
•Friday: wheel demos and simple fiber lined raku kiln construction
•Saturday: clay altering and finishing and Barry will demonstrate his firing techniques in our new kiln
•Sunday: participants will raku fire all day using Barry’s glazes, extra kiln provided
•Fee: $200 plus $25 materials fee, must preregister with $25 deposit
•Shared lunch feast each day with wood fired pizzas on Sunday
•Bring up to 10 pots to raku fire, we will supply a variety of glazes
