Time to Retire the old Kodak

It's time for me to kick the cow and invest in a new camera. Mine appeared to have all the bells and whistles for it's day, but after many failed attempts to get a good quality photo, and then laboring (and I do mean laboring) through a large and very boring manual, the ten year old Kodak camera is just not up to the task. (yes, I am blaming it all on the camera at this point!)

We've got the complete photo booth setup all ready to go at OOAK. Many thanks to Kari for help setting it up! AND to Joy Tanner and John Britt for the awesome Photo class!!!

I can't afford my first, and probably not my second choice, (and maybe not even the third choice) for the camera of my dreams. Any suggestions for a great little, mid-priced (i.e. cheap as dirt), camera that takes awesome pictures to be used on the website and for jury pics, etc?

B&H Photo and Adorama are good sources for used cameras.

Lynda, someone on Clay Club recommended a Nikon Coolpix L110 a few years back as a good all-purpose camera. I think there's a newer model out there now so there might be some good deals on Amazon on the older model. And the newer one isn't that bad, pricewise, either.
I really like my Canon G11. Perfect point and shoot just short of an SLR. I second the comment about used cameras at B & H. That where I bought my Canon.

I love my Digital Lumix made by Panasonic with a Leica lens. Very small, excellent telephoto capabilities good detail. lots of bells and whistles but very easy to use.

Linda, first decide what you want in your new camera - price point, do you want a camera that works well in low light situations, size of viewfinder, video capability,do you want a strong zoom lens, etc. etc. Then google "digital camera reviews". There are two very good sights which give examples of photos/color, etc. in currently available models, prices, and reviews.
I believe a name like Steve's digital camera, etc. is one of them; but a google search will bring that one and others up for your inspection.
