Firing Hot Kiln

My Skutt 1027 is firing about a cone and a half hot. What's up with that?  Anyone?

Is it new? Does it have thermocouples where you can reset the off-set? If so, I have been working through the same problem and would be happy to talk with you about it. 713-4195

Nelle,

First thing I would do is call Skutt. Then check the stacking. Keep everything away from the one thermocouple.

Thanks John and Diane. The kiln and the thermocouple are very old but the electronics are fairly new. I think this is a problem for Skutt.

If this is a new problem, I would place my bet on a new thermocouple.

I am with Diane. If the thermocouple is black and crusty and a lot smaller than before it is probably going bad.

That's what it is, the thermocouple. Duh? You'd think after four years I'd have a clue. Thanks Diane and John.
