Handbuilt Tableware with Cynthia Lee & Penny Clark
Thursdays 3pm- 5:30 pm
August 14- October 10. No class September 5.
Learn design techniques and handbuilding methods to create beautifully unique tableware, including serving pieces and candlesticks. Decorate with rollers, stamps, combs, wire handles, stencils, reverse applique sprigging, and sgraffito. We will combine slabs, coils, and drape molds to build our pieces, enhance decorative elements with layers of colorful terra sigillata and colorful glazes.

Stacking and Nesting-Innovative Sets for Function and Beauty. Instructor: Becca Floyd

August 13- October 8. No class September 3.
In this intermediate to advanced wheel-based class we will learn to make and measure pots for rhythmic stacking and nesting, creating unique and functional sets for everyday and special occasions.
Let's go beyond individual pots and make some table skylines and landscapes! We will decorate with stamps,line, and brush to give these pots that extra punch. Friendly discussions begin each class.

Exploring Form and Surface II with Mellie Lonnemann

This class will focus on making complex and simple forms through various hand building techniques. We will look at natural and manmade forms to inform our shapes and surfaces. This class will be a time for experiment and discovery. Come ready to take risks and find new modes of expression.

The Art of Etsy: Making Selling Online Work for You

Set up or re-vamp your shop, create attainable Etsy goals, learn to write enticing item descriptions and how to use tag words. We will create your shops visual story, discussing banners, images and branding. We will also go over marketing tips and search engine optimization.

Introduction to Installation Art with Genevieve Van Zandt
Mondays 3:00-5:30 pm
August 12- October 7. No class September 2.
In this class we will explore techniques and concepts of installation art. Each student will design an individual project idea, which we will work towards in the the 8 week class. The work will be installed in an outdoor location of the River Arts District, or in any unexpected, non-traditional space appropriate for the project.

Photographs are an integral part of any portfolio, and required for nearly any type of application in the visual arts. In this course students will learn how to create stunning visual records of their work using backdrops, cover lighting in a staged setting, and manual and DSLR shooting techniques. Photoshopping images in preparation for digital and print applications will also be covered.

Introduction to Throwing on the Wheel

This is a beginner class focused on learning the basics of throwing, trimming and glazing ceramic tableware. We will begin by exploring the three basic pottery forms and work towards altering them to suit our own aesthetic tastes. Students should expect to leave the class with mugs and bowls of their very own. The atmosphere will be fun and exciting!

Tea, Two Ways. Instructor: Emily Reason
Wednesdays 1pm - 3:30 pm

Make beautiful and beautifully functioning sets for both hot and iced tea in this class. Beginning with thrown bodies and lids, we will then explore methods for creating spouts and handles. We'll address options for surface decoration and discuss various traditions of tea as well as mechanical and aesthetic concerns.
