The CVCC Potters' Workshop is pleased to host visiting artist Shane Mickey. He will be teaching a one-day workshop,Let's Talk Pots, during which Mickey will demonstrate how he creates his signature pitchers, Gnome Jars, and tableware, as well as share techniques for throwing stacked forms and handles.  

Mickey studied ceramics at Frostburg State University in Western Maryland, and received his MFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a studio potter and owner of the Spring Creek Anagama, a community wood kiln in Bakersville, NC. Shane has taught in various educational settings including, Penland school, Frederick Community College and is an instructor at Appalachian State.

Let's Talk Pots will be held at the CVCC Potters' Workshop. The cost of the workshop is $75.00 and lunch is provided. Pre-registration is required; interested participants can view more information and register online atwww.cvcc.edu/potters_workshop, or by calling 828-327-7000 x4032.

The workshop seeks to promote the understanding, appreciation and continuation of Catawba Valley pottery. The goal is to provide contemporary instruction using local, historical methods and materials to make pottery.
