June Clay Club: Social media and texture tools at Reems Creek Pottery in Weaverville

June Clay Club will be at Reems Creek Pottery in Weaverville at 6 pm on Wednesday, June 8th. Thanks to Rachel Smith and Reems Creek Pottery for hosting us!

Reems Creek Pottery was founded in the fall of 2015 as a shared pottery studio in Weaverville with space for five studio potters and small classes.

Rachel Smith will share some of the business decisions that were made to start the studio. In addition she will talk about setting up a business Facebook page and how to create an event in Facebook and promote it through social media.

Rachel would also like to do a show and tell about handmade or found texture tools and molds. As primarily a hand-builder she scavenges yard sales and thrift stores for textures as well as learning new ways to make her own low cost items. Please bring your favorite hand made or found items to share with the group.

Reems Creek Pottery is at 181 Reems Creek Rd, Unit #6. Go about 1.5 miles down Reems Creek Rd from Merrimon Avenue. It is the second industrial building on the right. Go past the entrance with the Karpen Steel Sign and turn in the next driveway. There is a large parking lot with ample room for everyone to park. If you come early and need some exercise there is a 1/4 mile walking track next door around the Karpen Soccer field.

We will have the usual potluck, so bring food to share. Clay Club is BYOB, so bring drink, too. Since it will be summer bring lots of salads and other summery type foods.

The studio is spacious but seating is limited so if you have a folding chair you can bring that would be great.
