Emily Reason Workshop at Natchez Clay

June 22-27, 2009
Natchez Clay, Natchez, Ms.

I'm thrilled to be traveling to Natchez Clay next week to teach this hands-on workshop.
Each day will begin with a demonstration, while afternoons will be filled with hands-on time for participants.
Some of the techniques I'll be demonstrating are large, sectional pieces, cut rims, carving slip trailing and the making of many of my signature pieces.
We'll also have discussions about our work, finding inspiration, achieving intent, glaze treatment, firing and presenting our work.
An exhibition of my work will be held with a reception either on Thursday 6/25 or Saturday 6/27 evening. (details to follow)
Natchez Clay is a community clay studio located on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River (and I believe it's air-conditioned!). Clay enthusiasts of all levels of experience are invited to attend the workshop. Space remains so contact Donna at 610-660-2375 or natchezclay@gmail.com to register.
Natchez is a beautiful and historic city where Southern Hospitality reigns. It's the oldest European settlement on the Mississippi River. With that comes the opportunity for visitors to tour Old South mansions, the former homes of "cotton kings," sample local cuisine (mmm Gumbo!), shopping and taking in the natural scenery of the Mississippi River, vast open cotton fields and impressive live oak trees.
Come to Natchez, get a lesson in history and an unforgettable lesson in clay!
