spraying glazes

I would like to spray glazes on my cone 6 pots, and I need some advice re equipment.  Several questions: What type of spray gun works best with glazes?  Is there a recommended compressor?  And finally, is it possible to set up a spray booth outdoors?  My studio is small, and since I'm a handbuilder, most of it is taken up with my slab roller and storage for various hump/slump molds, etc.

Thanks for any tips!

Absolutely get an external mix siphon type spray gun. If these clog, you poke a needle tool down the feed tube to clear it and you are good to go. With an automotive type gun, you have to take them apart to unclog. They all clog from time to time.Highwater has one for under $40. You don't need a huge compressor. You can start with $100 for one at Home Depot or Lowes. Good luck.

There is a very good ^6 website with LOTS of great info:
cone6pots.ning.com
They have a complete section on spraying, spray booth design, and tons of other stuff! Enjoy!

Emily,I have a small husky compressor that is very user friendly and I have Leonora's old paasche sprayer, works great! You are welcome to come over and check it out if you want to :) I don't have a spray booth, I just set up on a table outside in the yard...

Tom Turner sells a nice spray gun for around $50. He can tell you more about the details.
