Dark Water


Have you ever noticed how Shino water gets dark black. Everyone wants to know why.

Not sure exactly why, but it is pretty clear from these tests that it is caused from soda ash and ball clay.

Here are some of the 50 tests we are running and the only ones that aren't dark are the ones without soda ash or with some soda ash but only small amounts of ball clay. (They have kaolin instead.)

Hmmm... Is that a cone 6 or cone 10 crackle shino slip? Looking for a cone 10 crackle shino slip for gas (or wood actually. Doing both now :o))

interesting definately unique to your materials as mine doesn't go dark at all..
