60th Anniversary of Archie Bray

This year is the Archie Bray Foundation's 60th anniversary and we are celebrating its role in the international ceramics community. For three
days in June 29 renowned artists will be offering demonstrations,exhibitions,and panel discussions during the 2011: From the Center to the Edge-60 Years
of Creativity and Innovation at the Archie Bray Foundation, June 23-25.


12 of the 29 artist, representing the "Artists from the Edge", will work forthe entire month of June at the Bray. These artists include: John Balistreri, Andy Brayman, Caroline Cheng, Chad Curtis, James Klein, David
Reid, Ayumi Horie, Bobby Silverman, Steven Thurston, John Williams, Jen Woodin and Linda Sormin.


They will be joined by 17 ceramic leaders, "Artists from the Center", for the three day event. The group of 17 include Robert Brady, Josh DeWeese, Julia Galloway, John Buck and Deborah Butterfield, Beth Cavener Stichter, Don Reitz, Sarah Jaeger, Jun Kaneko, Richard Notkin, Chris Staley, Sandy Simon, Tip Toland, Jason Walker, Akio Takamori, Patti Warashina, and Kurt
Weiser.


Along with the 60th anniversary festivities, the Bray will host three exhibitions that will open June 23rd as well as a live and silent auction showcasing hundreds of ceramic pieces. Numerous other ceramic exhibitions
throughout Helena and Montana will also add to the 60th anniversary.


The Archie Bray Foundation is a public, nonprofit, educational institution founded in 1951 by brickmaker, Archie Bray Sr. His goal was to create a place "available for all who are seriously and sincerely interested in any
of the branches of the ceramic arts, a fine place to work."
