Recap: January Clay Club at John Britt Pottery

Thanks to John Britt for hosting our first Clay Club of 2018! Several people participated in glazing their pieces for the oil spot firing, which John will do in the next few days. In addition, a number of folks came just to enjoy getting together, including several Penland winter residents - thanks to Susan Feagin for helping to make that happen!

John had his wood-fired pizza oven up and running. He provided the dough, sauce and cheese, and clubbers brought all sorts of toppings. This was really fun! We made a lot of pizzas and ate them all.

Jim Kransberger told us about the on-line ARTS & CRAFTS e-zine he is working on - if you’re interested in knowing more or being included, check out this post and contact Jim at kransberger@charter.net.

Clive Earnhart said that applications for the second North Carolina Ceramic Arts Festival will be available soon. He told us about the first festival, which was held in September 2017 at the French Broad River Park in Asheville and was quite a success. Look for info about applications here on the blog and check out the festival’s website and Facebook page.

Thanks again to John and everyone who participated in the oil spot glazing, and to everyone who came!
