Almond Cookies
1 cup of butter (two sticks-cold- cut into small slices)
¼ cup of sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups of flour
½ tsp salt
¾ cup of sliced or chopped almonds
Cream the butter and sugar (5 minutes) in a mixer.
Add vanilla and gradually add flour and salt.
Add almonds.
Chill two hours (it likes to be cold or the balls flatten out).
Form into 1” balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet and cook at 325 for 15 – 20 minutes or until bottoms are brown.
Cool 5 minutes and roll in powdered sugar.
Eat them (Hide remainder so everyone else doesn't eat them).

My favorites! But my recipe calls for chopped pecans or walnuts, and calls them Mexican Wedding Cookies or Russian Tea Cakes. You are so right about hiding them. If you hide things in fish boxes in the freezer, no one else ever finds them.
Never thought of the Fish boxes. I just hide them in my survival shelter 15 feet undergound.
I like to use this dough to wrap around a Hershey's kiss--especially the mint ones. Then they are called Secret Kiss cookies.
