Ooops! bisqued Phoenix to Cone 1ish

John (or anyone who knows),

I inadvertently (I love that euphemism for " I screwed up") bisqued a small load of pheonix pots to 2067F. Will they take enough glaze to bother ?

Well, I once bisqued a cone 6 clay to cone 4 (instead of 04) and it worked. It wasn't great, but it wasn't a total loss.

Seems like I've done this before.

;-)

When I have, it helps to heat up the pots a little before you glaze them. Then let them dry completely. If they still need more glaze dip again. I haven't found any difference in firing results if the glaze layer is the normal thickness. That's the challenge.

Thanks guys. If I had my own kiln, I probably would just glazed and said, "What the hell". but in a community kiln, I try to be a little cautious.

Stick it in someone's wood-fire kiln. A light soda at temperature and you're set. We did it with a few over-fired bisque pots in my new kiln and had good results.
