Chicken is the new fish

I'm afraid Evander Babyfield might come knocking so I'm posting some new pots.
We have a flock of beautiful birds that inspired me to try this new stuff. Firing soon, so I'll post the "after" pics later.

hit man!

yhea, the picture of me was used without permission, and besides i retired from violence unless personally provoked. My protege pictured here takes care of my "jobs" for me. I like this picture of him while we were at the beach, "on vacation(ie on the job)" he was very upset that day with his fishing guide and took his anger out on that poor baby shark, so like john said, you better post or evander babyfield may show up at your door.

It's Alive Pt. II

Opened a bag of clay and found this little world. I wonder if there's a tiny pottery village down there somewhere. Does Horton hear a Who?

Help Save Arrowmont

I just spoke to Chuck McMahon at Arrowmont and he confirmed the rumor that Pi Beta Phi is pursuing a deal to sell the Arrowmont property to a developer this fall. Arrowmont sits on about 72 acres of Gatlinburg real estate that may be worth as much as 2 million per acre. The Arrowmont folks were informed of this last week and Chuck has asked that we spread the word. He has also asked that we sign this petition and pass it on. I think there is an Arrowmont Board meeting Friday and they want to get as many signatures as possible by then. Please send the petition link to anyone who may be interested in signing it.

Arrowmont is trying to put their best face on this, but they need some help.

From Chuck:

Below is a link to a petition that was started to help save Arrowmont. Please let you voice be heard and show your support for the school. There are many unknowns at the moment and we don't have a lot of answers but if you have not already shown your support please consider it. Your voice is very important to the future of the school. Please send this message to everyone you know we are trying to gather as many signatures as possible before Friday the 22nd. Thank you! - Chuck

To Throw

Here is an excerpt from an article in Studio Potter:

"To throw:
Potters at Marshall Pottery in Texas describe their work at the potters wheel as turning. They understand only the modern meaning of to throw and do not use it to describe their work. However, the Old English word thrawan from which to throw comes, means to twist or turn. Going back even farther, the Indo-European root *ter- means to rub, rub by twisting, twist, turn. The German word drehen, a direct relative of to throw, means turn and is used in German for throwing. Because the activity of forming pots on the wheel has not changed since Old English times, the word throw has retained its original meaning in the language of pottery but has developed a completely different meaning in everyday usage. Those who say they throw pots are using the historically correct term. Those who say they turn pots are using more current language. Both are saying the same thing."

How did making pots on the wheel come to be termed "Throwing,"?
I'd greatly appriciate your responses.
