Free clay reclaim at Odyssey ClayWorks in Asheville

From Tyler Anderson, studio manager for Odyssey ClayWorks:

We have a huge stockpile of random red clay reclaim and we're offering it to anyone who wants it. The firing range is all over for this reclaim so I think it would work best potentially going to a cobb builder but I'm happy to give it to anyone who wants it. I have included a picture for reference. It's easily a couple hundred pounds so I'd recommend people bring a truck and some receptacles to transfer the reclaim into.

Interested? Contact Tyler at to work out the details.

Pottery tools and equipment for sale near Penland School

Jon Ellenbogen and Becky Plummer are closing Barking Spider Pottery and they are selling quite a bit of studio equipment. Here are the details from Jon:

Over our 43 years in the studio we’ve accumulated lots of tools and equipment, and we’d like to pass (sell) it on to worthy recipients.

Because of the virus we don’t want groups of people, so interested parties should call us (828-765-3123) for a time slot. Everyone will need a mask and social distancing will be enforced.

There’s a partial list of what we’re selling on our website: Go to the SALE OF STUDIO EQUIPMENT page.

Studio location details are also on the Barking Spider Pottery website.

Skutt kiln for sale near Boone

***see photos of this kiln here:***

Here are the details from Tyler Deal:

I have a 7cu ft. Skutt in great condition with digital programer, envirovent, 2 full shelves, 6 half shelves and some furniture for $1500.

I have to move this out of the space sooner rather than later, asap would be great!

Kiln works great and has only been bisque fired the past couple of years. Please email or 828-773-1365, email is best way to schedule time to see the kiln over the weekend including Friday.

Studio is 5 miles from Boone, NC in Vilas. Easy paved road and short gravel driveway. I can not offer much assistance for loading but I hope this great deal goes along to another. You will only be the 3rd owner of the kiln. I have only had it a few weeks but it is more with my other kilns than I need.

I am hoping folks come take a look this weekend in Boone. You will need to bring assistance for loading.

Feel free to pass along.

Thank you!
