Wanted: old, broken kiln shelves

Here are the details from Patricia Thompson in Mars Hill:

I have a very muddy backyard and have the idea of creating a walk way with old, broken kiln shelves; preferably ones without sharp, stuck glaze on them.

Have some shelves or a lead on some? Contact Patricia at 704-208-0940 or

Pottery Northwest Speaks: A Roundtable Discussion with Tip Toland, Patti Warashina, and Richard Notkin

Via John Britt and Terry Gess, an invitation from Richard Notkin for this online event this Friday, February 26th (link at the bottom has all the details):

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

This Friday evening, February 26, at 6:00 PM PST, I will be in a roundtable discussion with two artists with whom I have a long history, Tip Toland and Patti Warashina.  I admire both greatly, and both have been inspirational to me over the years on many levels.  Tip is a great ceramic/figurative artist (and, as many of you know, my sister-in-law).  Patti is one of the true icons in contemporary ceramic arts, a leader in the West Coast clay movement of the 1960’s. and an early inspiration in my own work.  Between the three of us, there are more than 150 years of experience working in clay sculpture, and we will be discussing our histories as artists — our passions and the role that culture and current events have played in the ongoing directions of our work.  Expect some new insights, some humor, and an enjoyable hour as three long-time artist friends look back on their work and reflect on where our art might venture in the future.

Registration for this virtual/zoom event is available in the attachment below.  The event is free, but donations to Pottery Northwest are encouraged.  If you wish, a suggested donation of between $10 and $25 would be most appreciated.  This is a voluntary fundraising event for this worthy non-profit arts organization in these difficult times.  Thank you for your consideration.  And please pass this on to anyone you might think interested, including your students.

Hope you can join us!  Stay safe and be well,
