Odyssey ClayWorks Salt Kiln Fund Raiser

Dear Odyssey Family,

At Odyssey ClayWorks, we take enormous pride in our studio. As staff, we work hard to create a safe and supportive environment for our students. We offer stimulating classes, dynamic instructors, and unique opportunities in clay, including specialized topics like glaze chemistry, making large scale work, atmospheric firing and kiln building. It is our goal to be the best equipped, friendliest, and most welcoming pottery studio in the entire Southeast. For many, Odyssey has become a home away from home, a place where a shared love of the material has created a warm and welcoming community.

As part of that community, we are reaching out to you in the hopes that you will be able to support our fundraising campaign to save our beloved salt kiln, which is in desperate need of rebuilding! Please help us to raise the funds needed to construct an upgraded salt kiln that will be used to educate the next generation of Odyssey students in this unique artistic process. We have enlisted the expertise of master kiln builder Shane Mickey, and will use the tear down, rebuild, and test firing of the new kiln as educational opportunities for our students.

There are several ways you can support this project –

1) Contribute! We need to raise $9000 to cover the material and labor costs of rebuilding the salt kiln. Our Indiegogo campaign runs from March 12th to April 11th. We have some tremendous perks at all donation levels. Additionally, we already have received 2 matching grants from anonymous donors totaling $3000. If we are able to raise the first $3000, the donors will match the amount to help us reach our goal! https://igg.me/at/odysseysaltkiln

2) Help us spread the word! Reposting about the campaign on your social media accounts is the single best way we can help to get the word out about our campaign. We will be using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram regularly to update the status of the project. Thanks in advance for helping us to get the word out.

3) Donate brick or materials. This will help to lower the overall project cost. If you have used or new brick in good condition and are willing to donate it to this project, please contact Gabriel at odysseyclayworks@gmail.com.

We thank you for being part of our community and appreciate all of your support for our studio over the years. Because of you, we are the number one destination in North Carolina to experience the love of clay.

All my best,

Gabriel Kline
