Description: This workshop is great for students who want to create organic, out of the round forms and learn slip decoration techniques from a true master.

Join Suze for a weekend of exploration and play while we hand build and decorate volumetric forms. Using your sketchbook and larger drawing paper as a springboard, we will translate drawn shapes into 3D vessels. Through the use of paper patterns and drop and drape molds as components, we will focus on developing and sculpting one of a kind vessels.

Suze will demonstrate a variety of approaches to surface enhancement using slips on leather hard clay. Writing, drawing, and sharing of source materials will help participants develop strategies to personalize their work. Firing not included.

Date & Time: June 9th-11th. 10am-5pm

Age & Level: 18+. All levels welcome although some experience is helpful.

If you are new to ceramics, check out an alternate workshop, “Hand Building Boot Camp”. This workshop will provide you with the basic tools you need to take any ceramic workshop at Double Island Studio.

Format: Hands-on and Demonstration

Materials Provided: · Stoneware Clay, black and white decorating slips, Amaco Underglazes, Handouts, Newspaper for paper resist decoration. Student materials list will be emailed upon registration.

Happy Hour Date: Students are invited to stay for lite snacks and beverages. Date TBA.
