Clay Club Report

Many thanks to Steve Lloyd and the Haywood Community College pottery students for hosting last night's Clay Club.

Current students, Haywood grads and some of us local potters showed up for tea, talking & a studio tour. The Haywood Clay studio accommodates 16 students pursuing their professional craft associates degree. The tour included the throwing room, glaze room, electric kiln room & outdoor kiln pad. They've got a heavy duty electric kiln (Fredrickson?) that's super-sweet, 2 gas car kilns, a lovely wood kiln & a fun little rubble kiln built from scrap brick for salt firing.

In 2012 Haywood CC will have a brand new crafts facility which will include separate studios for professional crafts students as well as continuing ed. students. It was a great time. Thanks Haywood!
