Granite dust source question
Does anyone know if granite dust/decomposed granite is available locally, either for purchase or collecting?
Thanks!

I get mine from Fox Farm Supply in Burnsville. They have two grits. I just bought two bags so if you want some - come on buy. I certainly don't need this much. I have fine and coarse. Fine for the chicks and coarse for the hens. 828-467-5020.
When I lived in Oregon I used to just collect decomposed granite myself. In some areas, garden centers or places that sell mulch, sand, etc, sell it but I haven't seen it anywhere around here.
No, it is grit. but could be ball milled.
But Vulcan stone (the black rock on all the roads) is granite. You can go to the end or a driveway that is sloped and find a pile of fines and that works. I have used that. I can bring some from home if you want?
Thanks!

Will leave it by the studio door. It is a rice clear container with Vulcan Road Grit 80 M on it.
What's your ash + granite glaze, if I may be so bold?
Also, my whole-house water filter supplies some granite granules, though not very fine. Haven't tried these granules in a glaze; they just keep accumulating. hp
