Eighteen Artists Receive North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship

Ten visual artists, four craft artists, two filmmakers, and two choreographers have been awarded North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowships for 2014–15.

In the visual arts category, the following artists will receive fellowships: Maready Evergreen, drawing/printmaking (Durham); Kiki Farish, drawing (Raleigh); Dustin Farnsworth, sculpture (Penland); Heather Gordon, painting (Durham); Harrison Haynes, installation/multimedia (Durham); Stacey Kirby, performance art (Durham); Peter Oakley, sculpture (Blowing Rock); Robert Ray, painting (Ocracoke); Damian Stamer, painting (Hillsborough); and Aaron Wilcox, sculpture (Wilmington.)

The craft artists selected for the fellowship are: David Chatt, fiber (Penland); Jeana Eve Klein, fiber (Boone); Richard Prisco, wood (Boone); and Tom Shields, wood (Penland.)

The fellowship will be awarded to two filmmakers: Josh Gibson, documentary film (Durham); and Elisabeth James, documentary film (Durham.)

In the choreography category, two artists will receive awards: Sara Baird, modern dance (Asheville); and Cara Hagan, modern dance (High Point).
