First Ever Clay Club Swap Meet was a Success!
Looking forward to having another one next summer!
The potters at Reems Creek Pottery hosted the first ever clay club swap meet in mid July. Six tables (plus the ground under them) were filled with books, glazes, tools, clay, textures, molds, and more. People were so excited to try out new cutters, new glazes, add books to their libraries, etc. What was left over (mostly generic items and a few books) were donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore. It was also one of the first clay club meetings held mid-day on a Saturday, and the pot-luck was overflowing with nice cool salads and fruit for a mid-summer picnic lunch. Rachel Smith from Reems Creek Pottery is already talking about hosting another one next year (and in fact has started a box of things to put out).
As a reminder, we are always looking for host studios for clay club. This is all about sharing stories, and methods, joys and frustrations of being a potter. But mostly about being part of the pottery community in Western North Carolina.
