Book Signing - Meet the Potter / Author

Local Weaverville Porcelain Potter and Author Morgan McCarver (www.morganmccarver.com) will be having a book signing of "God the Artist, Revealing God's Creative Side Through Pottery" on Saturday, Jan 20th (From 1-3 pm) at Reems Creek Pottery. Books will be available for purchase, or you can buy in advance, but no purchase is necessary. She will also have a selection of her pottery, and you can talk with her about how she created her designs, her transfers, and even getting them copyrighted!

Meet the author and talk with her about her ceramics practice and how it is influenced by her spirituality. McCarver uses the ceramics process and Biblical references to pottery to show different aspects of a relationship with God. The book shares McCarver's personal journey of faith and recovery (major spine surgery for scoliosis at the age of 14), and encourages readers to discover and develop their own artistic practice. “It's showing the readers that they themselves are creative and encouraging them to be creative and interact with God, the artist, alongside me in this experience. At the end of each chapter, there's a creativity challenge. It's open ended for any medium, however the reader wants to respond,” McCarver said. “My hope is for the reader to realize that everyone is creative because God is creative.”

Since there is no Clay Club Meeting this month, come out and hang with us at Reems Creek Pottery. There will be hot apple cider, as the weather is expected to be rather chilly. Location 181 Reems Creek Rd., Weaverville. Plenty of parking.
