Here are the details for this month’s Clay Club:


When: Wednesday, March 13th, 6 pm-8 pm


Who: Howard Sawhill, Cone Blue Pottery


Where: Clayspace Co-Op at 119 Roberts St, Asheville, NC 28801


Topic: Troubleshooting a wide range of glaze faults and considerations for food safety.


Food: Potluck, bring food or drink to share.


Parking: Parking in the lot behind the Wedge brewery/below Clayspace or across the street from Clayspace at Pine Gate renewables.




Meet Howard Sawhill




After graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge with a PhD in ceramics, Howard Sawhill worked thirty years with DuPont Electronics leading research and development teams that introduced new ceramic-based products into the marketplace. In his second career, he started Cone Blue Pottery, where the mainstay is research and development of ceramic glazes. He is currently working in collaboration with potters on challenging glaze issues and performing glaze studies aimed at improving the understanding of glaze performance.
