Down to the details…

Hello Clay Clubbers,

Here are the details for this month’s Clay Club:

When: Saturday, June 8, 11 am - 1 pm

Who: Rachel Smith and the Studio Potters at Reems Creek Pottery

Where: Reems Creek Pottery, 181 Reems Creek Road, Weaverville, NC

Topic: Swap Meet

Food Situation: Potluck - there will be designated tables inside the studio for food.

Parking: Ample parking in parking lot. Look for the big sign on Reems Creek Rd. If you see the Karpen Soccer Field you have gone just a bit too far. Please do not park directly in front of our gallery entrance.

There is plenty of parking on either side of the studio as the other businesses are closed on Saturdays.

Swap Meet

Get excited for the second Clay Club Swap Meet.

Through the years we have all benefited from the generosity of other potters sharing knowledge and tools.

Take a look in the back corners of your studio space and see what is gathering dust.

Molds you no longer use, glazes you don’t like anymore, extra tool, books, pottery magazines, texture mats and rollers and more.

What is it that is taking up valuable space in your studio that you didn’t want just to throw away because you know another potter out there could use it?!

There is no entry fee or minimums to attend. Everyone is welcome, even if you don’t have anything to swap, you may find something you can use!

Last years June Clay Club Swap Meet

Swap Details

  • All items should be clay related. No couches or coffee pots, etc.

  • Label the materials as best you can, such as Red Iron Oxide, or This Hand Extruder sometimes sticks.

  • Unlike last year, there will not be a designated for sale area.

  • Areas on the tables will be labeled for tools, glazes, clay, books, etc. Please place your items accordingly.

Timing

  • Arrive between 11:00 and 11:30 and place items in the designated areas. Please don’t take any items at this time.

  • 11:30-12:00 (or so). This will be the main time for selecting items that interest you. Please be kind, and take just a few to begin with, and make sure everyone has a chance to select some items.

  • 12:00-1:00  Food and community. We will introduce ourselves to each other and enjoy our potluck.

  • 12:30-1:00 Any remaining swap items are UP FOR GRABS! We don’t want anything eft on the tables after the event so please make sure it all finds new homes.

(Last year we brought a car full to Habitat Restore, but some of it they wouldn’t take and we had to put into the dumpster). If you brought items to the swap meet that are unclaimed, please bring them back home with you.
