Exchanging Pottery?

I got an email from someone who received one of my teapots as a gift and they are requesting an exchange. I've never had this happen before and am not sure how to handle it. Anyone had this sort of experience?

Ironically, the purchaser wrote me a lovely email about how she loved the teapot on sight and how her brother's new home didn't have a teapot. She thought it would be the perfect gift. Just goes to show...

Kari,

Never heard of that, but if they are paying shipping and it is not too much hassle???

My dad used to by presents for us that he wanted and we really did not know what to do with them.

I always by Cheryl power tools for her birthday!

Gosh Kari, I would almost say no to that one? What is the exchange she is looking for? A bowl or something easy for me to throw would be ok but another tea pot would be a custom order and that should involve some additonal cash I would think? Otherwise, I might let here come and look at what I already have for an exchange in the studio? Hummmm wierd?

Exhange it for the same value and cost of shipping
Very odd situation. I would take it back and allow them to replace it with a piece from your existing inventory. Shipping would be at their expense. Please let us know how it goes.
