Soft Surfaces

Saturday & Sunday, November 16-17, 9am-4pm
This workshop focuses on integrating surface design with altered wheel-thrown and hand built pouring pots. Demonstrations include soft throwing, altering, hand building spouts and handles, slip decorating, and under glaze painting. During the workshop we will discuss aesthetic issues (i.e. proportions, color, etc.), defining a conceptual foundation for making functional pottery, and motivation/idea derivation. Featuring a live recording of Ben's Podcast "Tales Of A Red Clay Rambler" on Saturday night.

There will be a free live taping of the Tales of a Red Clay Rambler podcast at the Odyssey Center on Saturday night November 16th. The discussion will start at 7pm and feature ceramic artists Josh Copus, Lindsay Rogers, and other special guests. The panel will be discussing how ceramic design has been influenced by the farm-to-table movement and other trends in the culinary arts. The panel is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
