Mitchell County Empty Bowls online starting Saturday

The Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Mitchell County Shepherd’s Staff will move online this year due to the ongoing pandemic. Bidding for handcrafted bowls by local artisans opens online on Saturday, August 8th at 9:00 am and closes Friday August 14th at 9:00 pm at biddingowl.com/shepherdsstaff. To win a bowl, participants must donate at least $40. There are a limited number of bowls available. Winning bidders will be able to pick up their unique handcrafted bowls by drive-through Saturday, August 15th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Spruce Pine First Baptist Church. Due to the new format, bidders will not be able to select their bowls, a tangible reminder that many people in the county are unable to select the food they want to eat.
