Introduction to Block Printing at Double Island Studio

Description: This workshop offers the essential components and skills for creating unique relief block prints. Participants will also explore various ways to elevate their prints to the next level by learning how to transform their work into collages, notecards, wrapping paper, or wall art. Workshop participants have the unique opportunity to sign up for 1 OR 2 days based on their interests (see options at checkout).

 Day 1: Participants will learn how to carve linoleum, ink blocks, and print their own personal imagery. Demonstrations include image transfer, color experimentation, and instruction of the required tools needed to create their own unique prints. There will be plenty of hands-on work time.

Day 2: Participants will design and carve organically shaped blocks which will then be used for making collages and note cards. Demonstrations include multi-color prints, texture buildup, and patterned motifs.

Participants can expect to leave with a solid knowledge of block printing and several printmaking creations.
