Poke Salad Annie. BTW birds love the berries and leave a thank you note on the patio and car, They are so thoughtful. Are you cooking your mess of greens John? I wonder what type of ash glaze Poke would make, hmm.

We just always thought of them as milkweed not poke.
I think the proper high faluting spelling is Poke Salet or Poke Salat; some call it Pokeweed as well.

I always love these berries because they attract Cedar Waxwings in swarms during the fall and early winter.

My kids smash the berries to draw on stuff or themselves. They looked like Afghan voters last week.
I have those coming up all over my garden. I pull them out. However, I didn't realize that birds love the berries. I'll let a few grow and 'berry' to see the flocks...
